Pelvic Floor Birth Prep
This is a one-on-one session designed for women in their 2nd and 3rd Trimester. This class will emphasize pelvic floor preparation stretches, breathing techniques & birth positions to optimally prepare the pelvis for labor and birth. In addition you will learn how to prepare for your postpartum healing by learning proper mechanics for lifting, breastfeeding positions and toileting.
Pelvic Floor 101
Emphasis on pelvic floor and pelvic girdle anatomy and functions. In addition, you will learn the changes that occur to the pelvic floor muscles during pregnancy and birth.
Pelvic Floor Prep Exercises
Safe home exercises and stretches will be instructed to help prepare your pelvis and pelvic floor for labor and birth.
Prepare to push
Emphasis on proper breathing, proper lengthening of the pelvic floor muscles in alternate birth positions to assist with a vaginal delivery.
Perineal Preparation
Perineal massage is best practiced at 34 weeks gestation for preparing the tissues for stretch. This technique will be reviewed to prepare the tissues for birth preparation.
Mechanics
Review proper transition movements, breastfeeding positions, and proper lifting to avoid pain and injury to allow for you to care for your newborn. In addition you will learn proper toileting mechanics to aid and protect the pelvic floor muscles.
